Southwest Airlines Grant Expands Milwaukee’s Aviation Pipeline Program

Milwaukee Public Schools recently received some exciting news, which could turn things around for some of its students. Southwest Airlines selected “Expanding Milwaukee’s Aviation Pipeline,” an MPS program, as a recipient of its 2019 Charitable Grants. The program is a partnership between MPS, the Greater Milwaukee Committee and Milwaukee Area Technical College in response to job shortages in the aviation field. The news was announced at Bradley Tech on March 8, with a few students in attendance. Southwest has awarded the program $40,000. UW, business leaders urge approval of new chemistry building for Milwaukee campus

Education officials and leaders in Milwaukee’s business community want state authorities to approve funding to replace the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Chemistry Building. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers’ proposed capital budget includes about $129.5 million to replace the 1972 structure at 3210 N. Cramer St. The project request for the 2019-2021 biennium is the No. 3 priority for the UW System and its top building priority. A description of the project says the current facility is in poor condition and doesn’t comply with some building code requirements. Southwest Airlines to sponsor local aviation workforce grant

The largest airline at Milwaukee's flagship airport will sponsor a grant for local aviation workforce development. Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) has awarded a grant of unspecified value to the Greater Milwaukee Committee as part of a nationwide grant program. The grant, which will be officially announced at Bradley Tech High School Friday, will fund a program called Expanding Milwaukee's Aviation Pipeline, which also includes Bradley Tech and Milwaukee Area Technical College as partners.
