Greater Milwaukee Committee Statement – June 16, 2021
Democracy is our common ground, and voting is an essential part of the rights and responsibilities of every citizen. For 245 years, our country has been working to become a more perfect union, and throughout the generations the right to vote has expanded, at times through hard-won victories, to include women and people of color.
As business leaders, we believe in the right of every voter to be heard in fair elections conducted with integrity. Unnecessary restrictions and barriers are counter to our commitment to equity and our communities. We call on elected officials across the country and at every level of government to safeguard the sacred right to vote while helping ensure greater access and participation for all our citizens.
