About the GMC

Fiscal Strength

Committee

The Greater Milwaukee Committee’s Fiscal Strength Task Force partners with the City of Milwaukee and the City’s Office of Innovation to strengthen the City’s long-term fiscal sustainability, operational effectiveness, and ability to deliver high-quality services. The Task Force brings together public- and private-sector expertise to assess and prioritize recommendations from the GMC’s Operational Review of the City, using data, fiscal analysis, and practical considerations to identify reforms with the greatest potential to improve financial stability, efficiency, and service outcomes.

The Task Force is focused on turning recommendations into action. Working alongside City leadership and departments, it provides private-sector expertise, implementation support, and connections to best practices and external resources. The Task Force emphasizes measurable outcomes, accountability, equity, and long-term sustainability while respecting the City’s governance and decision-making authority.

Infrastructure

Committee

The Greater Milwaukee Committee’s Infrastructure and Civic Development Committee brings together civic, business and community leaders to advance the infrastructure and civic investments that will shape Milwaukee’s future. The Committee takes a long-term, strategic view of transportation, water and utilities, public facilities, technology infrastructure and major public and private development, with a focus on strengthening coordination, promoting equitable investment and supporting Milwaukee’s growth, resilience and quality of life.

The Committee also explores how major infrastructure and civic investments can strengthen Milwaukee’s identity and economic vitality by improving connectivity, supporting catalytic development and investment, and creating stronger districts and destinations around cultural institutions, innovation, entertainment, public spaces and economic activity. Through long-range planning and collaboration with public agencies, developers, institutions and regional partners, the Committee works to advance investments that are fiscally responsible, equitable, resilient and aligned with Milwaukee’s long-term future.

Committee

The Greater Milwaukee Committee’s Education Committee brings together leaders across sectors to strengthen educational opportunities and outcomes for Milwaukee students. The Committee focuses on the full education continuum—from early childhood through K–12 and higher education—working to align partners, address challenges and advance strategies that expand access, improve outcomes and create stronger pathways to success.

The Committee places particular emphasis on early childhood development, K-12 student outcomes and ensuring that students have equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities. It also supports stronger connections to post-secondary and higher education and the pathways that prepare students for continued learning, careers, and long-term success. Through cross-sector collaboration and action, the Committee works to help build a more connected and effective education ecosystem for Milwaukee’s students and families.

Public Safety

Committee

The Greater Milwaukee Committee’s Public Safety Committee brings together public-sector, community, and business leaders to advance a coordinated, prevention-oriented approach to public safety in Milwaukee. The Committee serves as a cross-sector forum for aligning leadership, sharing insights, advancing data-informed strategies, and supporting practical actions that can improve safety outcomes for residents and businesses.

The Committee focuses on strengthening Milwaukee’s Community Violence Intervention ecosystem, supporting youth engagement strategies, and identifying meaningful roles for the business community in advancing long-term safety and stability. As an ongoing, action-oriented body, the Committee works to connect partners, identify opportunities for collaboration, and help move effective public safety strategies from discussion to impact.
